New x police van Bluetooth problem

Hi all.new to the forum just bought x West Yorkshire police caddy 140bhp in silver 2014 model with 61k on it and all panels are original believe it or not lol. Never had any paint either not sure what it would of been used for. It has sat nav RNS 315 but I’m having problems connecting my phone or dab ain’t showing. Tried searching for signal via my iPhone 8 no joy. Can anyone tell me if being a x police van do they deactivate it or is there something I ain’t doing. Thanks.

I had a RNS315 in mine and had the same thing. Its worth checking there's a cable from the nearside wing mirror where the dab aerial is - mine didn't have one - and thats pretty straightforward. Pop the door card off and look for a black cable with a black fakra connector (the one on the left)



It will also possibly need coding in with vagcom as thats also what was needed on mine, and maybe thats the issue with the bluetooth also.

I'm not sure if there's a non dab version of the rns315 but you could always pop yours out and look for the plug in the back to confirm it is a dab version and also that will confirm if there's a cable missing and you can check to see if there's a mic fitted at the same time (again, mine didn't have one so needed to run a cable up the A pillar and fit it inside the courtesy light).

There are both non DAB and non Bluetooth versions of the RNS315, so you'd be best to check the spec of your headunit first. You can use VCDS to find out what model version your RNS315 is you can try to match it against this (not exhaustive) list.

Thanks for the reply back guys. Looks like a job for the weekend. I’ll check both I was pulling the door cards off to sound deaden them among a few other mods. Just fitted roof bars and wind deflectors. Waiting for side bars that they forgot to put in my order lol bit big to forget to put in but hey we all make mistakes.
