Rancid Washer Fluid

Post by Sag1 »

Evening chaps,

After some advice really. As some of you may know my Caddy was sat unused for around 6 months and I’ve only just started driving it.

I’ve noticed the washer fluid smells absolutely rancid, like sewage waste. Every time you spray it, it fills the car with the same smell. The tank is full too.

Would it just be a case of flushing this fluid out and replacing it or would there be something else I’d need to do (filter in pump or something?).

Any help appreciated!

Regards,
Sag

Could put a Milton tablet in after flushing.

I’d just put the washers on till empty (if you can stand the smell) and run some diluted flash or similar through a few times. Then clean water and screen wash.
You might want to give the pump a rest in between though.
I had the same issue on another car and it worked for me.

I know the feeling, almost in tears when Seb didn’t get into Q3.

Have talked the missus into sitting in the caddy for the evening to drain the washer fluid lol!

Will let you know how I get on.

I hunk I’d drain it another way rather than pumping, knowing my luck I’d burn the motor out!
