Cornish Caddy build thread
So I thought I would start a “build” thread, not so much a build as a tidying up thread. I bought this a few weeks ago from a local electric company, it is Ford Olympic Blue and needs a little tlc. It will be my work van for my exterior cleaning company and will also be used to ferry mountain bikes around with the occasional overnight stay when everything is back to normal.

Re: Cornish Caddy build thread
First job was to remove all of the vinyl sign writing, I waited for a hot day and used a plastic razor blade and some sticky stuff remover. Faintly easy but certainly made my fingers ache.
Went from this
To this
I will am waiting for a heavy compound to take the ghosts of the letters out. Hopefully should mop up ok

Re: Cornish Caddy build thread
Whilst this is a work van, i will be making the cabin a more comfortable place to be and adding things like cruise control as i like a weekend away up country.
Job list
1, passenger side wing mirror
2, high level brake light
3, mfsw
4, seats that don't ruin your back
5, Alloys
6, Stereo upgrade, im undecided whether to go OEM or aftermarket
7, Rear view camera
8, Learn to use vcds
9, Fix paintwork
10, Cruise Control
11, Fix ABS/EPC fault light
12, Deep clean the filthy interior!
13, Cluster from something more refined as the lack of temperature gauge is killing me.
I'm sure, having read a load of threads on this forum that this list will grow, it seems these vans are addictive but for now i will start with this.

Hi RedLion
Looking good with out the sign writing
I think your list will grow.
At first I was just going to tidy mine up.
But you will get satisfaction and enjoyment as you start building and you will be cursing a lot.
Lots of fun to be had

Re: Cornish Caddy build thread
stanley blade really? thats madness! i kind of wish mine had been wrapped to be honest, it started life white, and the company had it repainted and then sign wrote it. outcome is i dont know how mad i can go with the mop to compound out the shadows of the paint and where there are chips it comes through bright white. Sigh.

Re: Cornish Caddy build thread
So today I mopped the passenger side, trying to get rid of the nasty ghosts of the sign writing, I’m happy with the results so far

Thanks @balders, there is a long way to go! There wasn’t a long way to go and then I visited @sean1066 and saw what you can do with these vans, his is stunning. Made me very jealous.

Re: Cornish Caddy build thread
Nice job on the paintwork mate. I’ve got an ex gas van too, you can see a little ghosting on mine, mainly the bonnet.
What did you use to remove it?
Sean’s van is indeed a thing of beauty.....not seen it in the flesh yet.

Re: Cornish Caddy build thread
Thanks, it took some time, and it’s still not quite there. It was white before the company I bought it from had it painted so I wasn’t sure how aggressive I could be with the paint but all is well so far.
I used this on a firm pad on a Halfords dual action polisher
It took some elbow grease and a little cursing.
Managed to attack the other side yesterday, I’ve still got the rear doors and the bonnet to pull up as well as the lowers of both sides.
Seeing Sean’s van has definitely given me some food for thought, my eBay has taken a beating since haha, pick up some gti clocks tomorrow too as the lack temp gauge is killing me.
