Bicycle mount ideas

Post by Bjoates » Thu Aug 13, 2020 9:01 pm

So use my van for bringing my bike around with me to different spots...just wondering if people have ideas of the best way to fit out the rear for bringing the bike along....both mountain bike and road bike

Throw up pics of what you have already

I use a couple of mounts on the sides, can fit in 2 road or MTB or cross or E bikes plus tools and gear

Yeah, that would work too! There’s a few folks on here done just that.

I like to leave the front wheel on, easier and quicker to hit the trails.

I went with three stealth fork mounts that are sunken in the floor and hidden with rubber strips that match the rest of the floor when not in use...
I can stagger two bikes when I have my bed in either up front or at the back of the van using the mounts..ImageImage

Gary

What channel did you use for to mount the fork mounts on?

Cheers
Andy

@Andy76 they are CNC 2020 T-slot 3D printer rails you can get them in different widths and lengths... I'm sure I've seen a few people on here who have also used the 2080 rails.

@Gary.8

Cheers will investigate. It’s a nice tidy solution and it allows flexibility so slide the forks sideways a bit.

I’ve used the same fork clamps mounted to unistrut in my sprinter camper and can get 4 bikes in side by side at a push by sliding the clamps around on the uni. The uni is too industrial for the back of the caddy though as it obviously stops anything sliding past it.

@Andy76 have a look at the 2080 rail if you want to mount the fork clamps side ways abit as these are triple rails but as one piece .

Cheers

It looks a good option as I need slight offset for handlebar overlap. I’m gonna do some mods to the sprinter so at change to sliding tray and move the fixings to the back door.

The 2020 or t track is probably best suited to caddy as it will probably only ever be one or two bikes in it

So just have this installed to keep me going for now, hoping to make something that I can take in and out as I please. Bout the mounts off Amazon for €10 a piece ImageImageImage
