Can anyone help me choosing the right shock absorbers?

Post by Wilson »

Hi all. I’m struggling to find the right shocks for my ‘08 Maxi Sportline panel van 2.0 140. There seems to be a lot of options and I just want something that fits and is of similar quality to the originals. I’ve tackled brakes, suspension, body work and EGR/Turbo issues but I’ve never dealt with shocks or springs. I also need 1 new coil spring on the left hand side but I’m not sure how to get an exact match to the one that was replaced on the right. Different sized springs wouldn’t be good I suspect.

The number on the shock is 1TO413031HQ

Any advice much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Wilson

The likes of EuroCarParts will stock Sachs of Bilstein or maybe even KYB front shocks for your van. All the above will be as good as original quality.

As for springs, it's not advisable to change just one as the other will have sagged and weakened. This will have happened as a pair and fitting a new spring will cause an imbalance in spring rate.

Hey. Thanks for the advice. My mechanic mate has offered to put the new struts together and I’m just gonna go with new springs, shocks and top mounts. Cheers. W

The coloured markings represent how soft or hard the spring is and for oem strut replacements the 3 listed by Doc earlier are the ones to go for.
I had mine replaced with KYB ultra sr shock absorber struts, springs and top mounts. You may also need to replace the strut stabalizer link rods as well.

My front is marked 2K5 412 021 H, that stand for oem green-red-red on spring, ok with them no banging and i think that is replaced, maybe not? Car has 117000km but rear are Kayaba KYB Excel-G and when i drive over speed bump or hole on road hard banging and seems to me the back of the car go slight on left or right, dont know is this for replacing?
