Hi all, wanting to get my mk4 remapped but had mixed opinions about it? I have a 2.0 5 gear manual 102bhp but been told if I map it it’ll just blow my gearbox?
How true is this and how long have you guys had them mapped with the same spec as mine?
Thanks.

Hi,
I also have a mk4 2.0 ltr (albeit a 6 speed) that has a Celtic map which takes it from 140 up to 193, no problems and would definitely recommend it :D

I have the 5 manual 102bhp and been told the gearbox is obviously different and wouldn’t last and could blow it I want to know if anyone else who has the same as me has just had it mapped for a long time and been okay with it?
Thanks.

the 5sp box will easily take way more than your clutch can hold so i wouldnt worry about it, the issue is the stock 5sp clutch kit will start to slip if you push too much torqure through them

You’re right, mine is limited to 355 Nm cause of the stock clutch

I’ve got 195.8 bhp

you cand always buy a golf mk4 o2m or golf mk5 o2q gearbox and have that fitted if it causes your clutch to slip.

i doubt you will damage your gearbox its more likely the clutch might slip if its pushed close to 180 but that can be helped by gradually bringing the power in
