Yeah I’m gonna cut the right side so that the gap is parallel

As i said 3d print can be good in my opinion, but would use only for mold casting!
Today 3d prints can be awesome as i heard there is new 3d printing plastic that is light and very strong almost :) as carbon fibers, and many airplane model making people use it as its very durable!
But as i said i think it would be better to mold one out from cast and then it would be from one pice and better looking :)
There's carbon fibre infused filaments and there's the lightweight stuff as well but neither are suitable here. The lightweight stuff won't keep its shape on a hot dash board for a start. As an rc aircraft builder I can tell you these YouTube 3d printed planes are not anywhere near as good as traditional methods.

Resin printing would be the only consideration on a 3d print level but as I say costs and surface finish wouldn't suit everyone.

I get that base is different in LHD and RHD, maybe lid can be same for both??
No, as I've shown earlier the base isn't the issue, the lid is as brilliantly shown by rush roo

Nice, good effort.

Ive not been able to post in this thread today due to 403 error, glad its working now.

Edit spoke too soon, I can post this and edit it but not post again or the method people can try to mould their own at home.

Wrap cling film round original compartment then parceltape, lay up some fiber cloth on top and let set. Remove from tape and strengthen inside with another layer or 2 of glass fiber and add a hinge.

On a related note is there anything I can do with the centre console cigarette lighter area? The ashtray doesn't appear to be broken but is quite loose (probably needs spring clip) but I also would like to do something where I now have aftermarket USBs inputs poking through next to the ASR button and that whole part of the centre console feels flimsy as. Also I don't even need the 12v socket as I have the USBs for power and inverter in the rear

Rush roo, do you have any pics looking inside with the lid open so it shows the hinge?
Is the hinge where the flat black bit is at the back of the standard open top one?
