Yet another MFSW issue
Hi all
I know this has been covered a million times before but I cant seem to find a thread that works for my scenario & after a day of trawling this forum & Ross tech forum my brain is fried to the point of explosion.
I am looking to retro fit a MFSW in my Caddy Highline & have bought a Passat version complete with Airbag,
steering wheel Part No is 3C8 419 091 BE.
I recently purchased VCDS (total novice) & scanned the van to obtain the control unit number & compare to the list that I stumbled across on here from the Ross-tech website http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.ph ... K0-953-569 my control unit no is 5K0 953 569 AF (Midline).
As my van is a Highline fitted with CC & MFD looking at the list I think I need to purchase either a 5K0 953 569 BF or BG (both Highline modules).
Once a new module is purchased is it then just a case of fitting it all, a bit of coding & boom away we go??
I have read a couple of post saying I need to change the wiper stalk to 1 with no MFD controls, why would that matter??
I am simpleton so need it put in basic form that can easily be understood, thank you all for the time of reading this & the help I'm sure will follow.

Re: Yet another MFSW issue
For MFSW you will need a module that supports such from the list on the page you've linked.
You will need to stick to the same generation so 5k0-953-569** of some form.
If you don't change your trip stalk you can end up with the instrument cluster reverting back to stalk control and not recognising the MFSW buttons input.
In simple terms, change control module and stalks. Replace steering wheel band airbag including the airbag harnes. Set the coding and clear any faults. You're done.

Yet another MFSW issue
Doc would either of the BF / BG modules work for me?
The wheel I bought came with airbag & harness that joins to the wheel with the multi plug that I assume joins the module through top of wheel.
So module, stalk & I should be good to go.

Re: Yet another MFSW issue
Yep, it seems those are the same as your ***569BE with the addition of MFSW so should be fine.

Re: Yet another MFSW issue
Doc is there a specific part number for the stalk?
Looking online again seems a minefield? Can I just replace the MFD stalk on its own or do I have to replace as a complete unit (as in both stalks)

Re: Yet another MFSW issue
As an additional query just to butt in, could the stalk be kept if a wire or two was to be disconnected from it?

Am I right in assuming the Part No 5K0 953 521 DN I have fitted is for the stalks fitted with MFD & CC control &
the Part No 5K0 953 507 BC is for the stalks with CC & no MFD controls?

Re: Yet another MFSW issue
No, you'll need a Valeo stalk set, part number ending in 521 to go with your Valeo control module.
The stalks ending 507 are for the older control module.

Re: Yet another MFSW issue
So finally have everything I need to fit the MFSW.
With regards to using VCDS is there a guide anywhere that points out what needs changing in the coding options?

Re: Yet another MFSW issue
Make sure you copy your coding first so you can revert back if it all goes wrong. I normally take a picture. If you go on you tube and watch a few Ross tech videos you will get a basic idea of how it works.

Re: Yet another MFSW issue
Did you have issues with 5K0 953 569 BF and cruise control on the stalk? Mentioned on Ross Tech that there appears not to work?
