USB fixture.

Post by Ainzley91 »

Has anyone butchered/made the plastic bit under the stereo near the 12v socket fit a usb? I currently have it out and just the usb lead leading through it but want it to look smarter..

(Would out a picture of what I mean but no idea how to lol”

You could do it in the ashtray, unless you are using that?

I've seen people make little panels to sit under the ash tray that they've mounted USB sockets to and wired in. Could that work for you?

I've also seen (on other cars) people completely remove the 12V socket and replace it with a USB.

I had the USB socket next to the cigar lighter socket as standard but when I fitted my kenwood I removed the oem socket and glued the kenwood USB extension socket in its place (from underneath), looks just like the oem did.

I did some pictures as I did it but they were either transferred to the laptop or they have been deleted.

Mines 08 plate maxi. There’s a little rectangle thing just above the 12v socket that would be ideal to fix a USB port that currently plugged into rear of stereo, and ideal for being just below my phone hold so not cables trailing all over.
