This doesn't look right?

Post by Kyl3 »

Had my van back from the bodyshop after it got crashed into. The sliding door + front door were replaced. The sliding door is now stiff to close, you have to slam it to get it to latch. Had a proper look over it and it seems to be sitting Futher in than the front door. I'm not 100% on how it sat previous to being fixed but I'm sure it wasn't this.

Edit- forgot to put is there anyway to adjust the door?

Yep, that's shockingly poor panel alignment from the body shop.
Get in touch ASAP and let them know you're not happy.

I can see the issue you’ve got there mate. I’m surprised they’ve let you take it away like that.
I’ve just had a quick look at my van and they’ll need to adjust the fittings as shown in the photos. The door needs to come out a little.

This is the top

And the bottom

That should cure your problem mate.

This just proves once again, that whenever leaving your car at a body shop, it has to be chekced before accepting the work done to the car. :?

Had an issue with a Bmw 5-series, where I went by the shop two times without accepting the car.. Spraydust, poor fitment etc...

@Kyl3
Dont do anything yourself!
Let the body shop take care of it, its their problem.

@dutchy
The bodyshop is a 45 minute drive away. Unfortunately I don't have 1 and half hours to waste when they clearly don't have a clue

@the swan fiend
The top is definitely better now but no matter how much I adjust the bottom it doesn't seem to adjust it out, the door latches properly now so thats something

Are the rollers ok on the bottom? It might be the case that the rollers are shot and thus not holding the door where it needs to be.
You might also need to adjust the bottom roller where is meets the door, if I remember correctly there is some adjustment there.

Glad it’s a bit better mate. As Doc said, take it back and ask them to look at it.
Was it damaged down at the bottom of the door?

100% take it back mate as that’s a shocking repair! I would also advise no attempt to rectify it myself as it’s their responsibility. If you start adjusting it yourself you will have no recourse for any potential problems such as leaking for example that may become problematic in the future
