Tailgate handle retrofitted?

Has anyone fitted a tailgate inside opening handle, so you can open the boot from the inside? I’ve got a mk4 maxi life 7 seater.

The part number appears to be 2K0829309, but I can’t see any instructions online on how to connect it.

I’m open to ideas, if there are other solutions. I’ve even seen some people run fishing wire to a pull pin about the rubber tailgate handle.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Tailgate lock is electrically controlled as far as I know. The part number is for a barn door, which is mechanical and won't be compatible.

I think I saw someone on a forum here who’d just drilled a hole and attached a pull chord to the latch. So it sounded like it’s an option. But you could be right that it’s mechanical!

I saw T6 owners have fitted handles in their tailgate, like so:

Small non latching electrical button wired into the catch does the job. There are write ups on here somewhere, I’ll see if I can find it, sure I bookmarked it

Just had a poke about behind the tailgate panel and this white switch seems to manually unlock the boot. So I wonder if the handle & wire method would do it, to open from the inside?
