Help needed 1.2 2012 caddy tsi

Post by robevo75 »

Hey Guys!

I have a 2012 VW caddy 1.2 TSI and it recently stopped working.

Whilst i was driving normally the EPC light came on, so did the check engine light, as well as the traction control light. I completely lost acceleration and I pulled over as soon as i could and the engines idle was quite rough revving to 1 and 0.5 at random intervals and has gone into limp mode. Anyone had any similar problems?? Mechanics are out of ideas also.

Without seeing it, bit hard to say. As mentioned above, read the event memory, then work from there

Generic OBD reader is often a waste of time for proper diagnostic... But at least it's pointing you towards the cylinder 3, so check what's happening there. Just by checking the spark plugs you can tell a bit. Maybe they have never been changed. You can also swap over the coil pack with cylinder 2 for instance and see if the cylinder 3 still misfiring or it's moved onto cylinder 2.
