Radio buttons and lighting switch worn

Post by Glowstone »

Hi all..

Is it worth me getting new buttons for my standard radio...

Also, God knows what the previous owner was doing to the lighting dial... Its basically white (as opposed to black)... Scratched to hell...

Is it worth getting an aftermarket one.. Or are they crap?

Cheers

Light switches seem to wear badly. Been looking for a replacement with auto on and all the ones I’ve seen in scrap yards are worn to white.

Maybe mask off the illuminated parts with liquid mask and paint it with a matt black would do for now?
They can't be that expensive from tps?

I'm not sure changing radio buttons on a standard unit is worth it though if even doable, I feel they may be only available as part of a new radio or at best a new facia.

I’ve got an aftermarket light switch on mine. It was about £7 from eBay. I haven’t had any issues with it. I think there are a few different types of plug on the rear though, so make sure you get the right one.

I bought one from a salvage yard from a 2013 Touran which is the Auto light version and it has no wear at all. Only £5. I’ve also got a copy one from eBay which came with the auto light sensor and that looks pretty decent and was only £15. I plan on using the Touran one with the sensor if it works.
