Life Sliding Door Panel

Post by Beaker2135 » Tue May 04, 2021 11:10 am

Question for anybody with a SWB Life or that has fitted the door panels to their sliding door.
How much depth do the add to the door?
It’s hard to tell from the pictures I’ve seen but I’m hoping it’s less than 5mm
I have 6.5mm ply on my door and it rubs on the tyre since I fitted wheel spacers so I’m going to remove it and was hoping one of these panel would fit instead
Cheers

You can get a longer arm that spaces the door out more, I cant remember where from but a quick search on site should show it up.

Thanks I’m aware but not my style
I’ll either swap the panel or remove the wheel spacers

Hi Mate,
I’m in the process of covering a life sliding door panel with 4 way stretch carpet and never even gave that a thought as my wheel is pretty damn close to the ply lined panel now. It’s at least 10mm thick without the added carpet.

Or you could get some 4mm ply if you needed to cover that part of the door. I know it’s really flexible at that thickness but you could glue a section to the back of it that fits in the void to stiffen it slightly.

4mm ply would be a solution but I have put 4.8mm pencil round on the edge  I guess I could buy a 3.2 bit or soften the corners by hand
You’re right though the 6.5 is way too stiff for lining the van. It pulled all the side in like a corrugated sheet when I first did it. I had to take most of the fixings out. Thankfully it came back straight but if I was doing it again I would use 4mm, it’s probably stiffer than 6mm exterior ply anyway

The worst thing is when I test fitted the spacers they seemed fine.
