TPS

Post by D_EDD »

Just tried to buy a door stay from TPS and they will only sell to the trade, is this a company wide thing, anyone else had this problem?

It's on a branch by branch basis.
TPS will tell you to go to VW if you're not trade.
I've never had a problem with Aston or Derby but heard a lot of people have.
First time I contacted Derby was on the instruction of VW Loughborough. You could try saying VW referred you.

My local depot used to serve both trade and public then changed. I rang up and said I was looking to open up a trade account. They need an address for you, but I said I was a mobile mechanic so gave my home address and made up a business name. Never had a problem since, I think they only turn away public because they're told to by VW, if you say you're trade, they've done their job by not serving public and you get your bits, so everyones happy.

Yeah they said to go though vw and that they’re only doing delivery’s, so I can’t even pretend that I’ve been referred.
Would it be possible for someone to get me a trade price just as a reference, and I’ll get a price from vw, I know it’ll be a bit more but I don’t want to pay loads more than I need to.
Cheers

TPS give less discount to one off sales than your local VW parts counter will.

Oh really, the few bit I bought for my old t5 I found TPS was cheaper.
I’ll give vw a call tomorrow and get it ordered through them.
Thanks for your help

Yes that is right its store for store so they only deal with trade & will send you to vw instead unfortunately as it makes a major difference
