I have recently bought an ex BG VW Caddy. I left sidelights on and by morning the van wouldn't start. The van is equipped with Impact-G isolator. As I understand the idea of the isolator is that it disconnects the battery before it goes completely flat, in other words, it should have prevented the exact situation I got into.
How does the isolator work specifically? I tried finding information online, but without much success. For how long you are supposed to be pressing the red button? What should have happened? Would be grateful for any advice.

Re: Ex BG / Isolator
Welcome to the forum.
Maybe someone with actual knowledge will be along soon to help but there's an old thread I found with some info in it. It sounds like the isolators can be a bit sensitive and the terminals get corroded causing bridging of the contacts. Cleaning the contacts and applying some white lithium grease is one suggested fix, replacing it, or removing it altogether are the others.
