Heated Windscreens

Post by AndyBa »

Having got the windscreen replaced on my son's Caddy I did a search on this forum re heated windscreens. Looks like there was a group buy (x5) back in 2016 from Ricky Evans Motorsport. https://www.heatedwindscreen.com/
So I rang them up since they don't have the Caddy listed on their website. The guy confirmed if people could organise a group request for at least 5 he could supply them. He said he gets lots of individual requests but obviously needs a bulk buy to make it worthwhile. I didn't confirm the cost but suspect it would probably be circa £250+vat each.
It's a bit late for our Caddy but just making people aware. Being a northerner I quickly get fed-up of scraping the ice in winter!

I bought one for my MK2 Golf it's fitted but not wired-up yet tho! Must get sorted for this winter.

That seems extremely cheap, I was told the windscreen on my 1.9 which wasn't heated cost £900 but I've always had them done on insurance.
I need a heated one on my 2.0 but I'm waiting until its mot time then will do it through insurance.

Heated screen listed on LLLParts at €475
So TPS price could be similar in £ at a guess.
£900 sounds high for a std. screen ??

I always thought it was a silly price, it's just what auto windscreens said it was, through insurance i only paid £100 excess at the time.

I guess "original VW" will always cost a premium.
I think TPS have stopped trading with Joe Public too. Or at least our local one wouldn't serve me....I'm sure it wasn't personal!

I do a lot of work for a large nation windscreen company and had them price me a heated screen as mine was cracked and at cost for them it was around £90 +vat. It was cheaper going through the insurance.
Not much help to anyone else but gives you a cost so you don’t get ripped off.
