What mods first?
So I have a 1.9tdi lowline and have a spare £300 to spend on it. Recently put a midline control module in and cruise control stalks.
So the question is if you had £300 what would you spend it on?
New dash?
Cluster?
Steering wheel?
Remap?
Seats?
Stereo?
Just can't decide

Re: What mods first?
Definitely going to look into it, wonder what kind of gains it will get!

Re: What mods first?
You’ll probably end up with around 140hp depending on dyno. It depends what you already have but I got touran door cards, armrest, front bumper, carpet, seat bases and seats for £50 from a locals scrapy. Or if you already have the seat bases you could get a nice pair of seats for £300.
The remap does make a big difference but it also depends how mechanically sound your vehicle is. You could end up needing a new clutch or turbo before you thought you would.

Re: What mods first?
100% a remap, made mine a hell of alot more drivable.
Also, the 1.9 can get clogged up if it hasn't been well serviced, remover the egr prior to mapping (so it can mapped out), or give it a bloody good clean.
Also, get some Cataclean through it then some good fuel, it makes a difference.

@Oldgregg
Definitely be going down the breakers and see if they have anything I can use! Haven't got a clue how good the engine is tbh never really worked on engines before.
@Drewcole
Whats the benefit of removing the egr? Is it a easy enough job? Isn't it a MOT failure? Or is there ways around that

Re: What mods first?
The EGR returns quite a lot of the exhaust gasses back through the system and cloggs it all up which basically goes towards strangling the engines performance over time.
Removing them makes it perform better and will aid it being more responsive.
Just removing it will throw up a light on the dash, but you can map out the EGR, so if you are going to have it tunned speak to the tuner first to see if they can do it, then remove it prior to going for the map and then you won't have a light come up.
Won't fail the MOT as long as the rest of the engine is running well and isn't chucking out a load of crud from the back, decent service and good fuel will see the engine run at its best.

Re: What mods first?
go the whole hog straight out the gate.
Cheap coilovers for now.
Wheels a must
remap
touran dash with aircon
Touran carpet and seats to finnish it off
After that just add bits as and when you have the time

What mods first?
X5PEA All the parts I mentioned were from a Touran. The door cards need a slight modification, just a bit cut out. What year is your caddy?

Re: What mods first?
Mapping isn't really going to stress things anymore unless you push the limits on it.
Generally you'd be driving a lower powered car hard most of the time to get to speed, a good map by someone who takes into account the age/mileage/wear etc will leave you with something that doesn't need to be driven as hard.
Yes, if you just have the limits maxed out by someone who doesn't really know what they're doing and then thrash it, it will break.
