What shocks is everyone using ?
Hi everyone I’m looking into putting some shocks into the van , a plumber on site recommended me bilstein shocks? He said that they are a shortened version , my van is a 2018 if anyone could give me advise on shocks and the best place to purchase them would be great , also the van will be lowered 45mm on eibach springs with kw axle flip kit .. thanks a mill

Bilstein B8 is a shorter version. B4 and B6 are standard height.
Mote information here https://www.bilstein-shocks.co.uk/pages ... ying-guide
I would go for B8, but B4 should survive 45mm lowering, if you want a slightly softer ride.

Here's mine on b4's 60mm eibach springs front, darkside developments low rear flip kit and b8's.
Just in the process of getting the alignment done.

Re: What shocks is everyone using ?
I would say it depends on the mileage and whether you doing it yourself or paying a garage to do it.
Low mileage oem shocks will be ok with 45 mm lowering. But if Caddy has done some miles and you paying somebody else to do the work, then maybe worth fitting new shocks too, so you don't have to pay nearly the same cost (fitting + wheel alignment) any time soon.
The one thing definitely worth changing is the complete top mounts.

Most people using new standard ones. But if you looking for something a little bit stiffer, then Audi TTRS ones is a direct replacement.

@giddy I’ve lowered the van eventually but I’ve not gone with the 45 mm I’ve went with 60mm Eibach and my van is sitting the lowest it can be on the rear , for the shocks would you have any take on the gaz rear shocks? As there cheaper than bilstein thanks lad

Re: What shocks is everyone using ?
If you need a shorter or stiffer rear shocks, then yes, GAZ is about the cheapest. But I'm not impressed with quality of them. They were brilliant when I fitted them first, but after about a year both of my shocks developed a small oil leak and at least one of them started to squeak. Sent them off back to GAZ, they come back as "no fault found" with print out of the damping performance figures. Not sure if they have investigated further or replaced anything, I haven't tried them since, cause I'm too busy with work and home stuff at the moment.

Like you I fitted 60mm eibach springs. I went with bikstein b4's on the front and b8's on the rear. Good compromise for both looks practicality and comfort.

Great stuff I think I’m more tempted to go for the b8s ahead of gaz ones , what price did you pay for b8s? Also is there a link thanks

Re: What shocks is everyone using ?
I would agree fully with Giddy regarding Gaz rears. Exact same experience although mine are still on the van and will replace with something else.
Ex BG 2011 1.6 tdi - colour coded front and rear bumpers, mirror covers. Side windows and front window wind deflectors. Scirocco 18” Interlagos alloys. Spax RSX coilovers, Gaz rears. Touran rear seats with integrated child seats and head protection headrests. Sound deadening/ insulation with Caddy Life headlining, full interior plastics, custom made boot box, bulkhead with load through.

Re: What shocks is everyone using ?
I too would agree that Gaz are far from good quality.
I've had a second set degrade to the point where I'm looking at alternatives.
I think the angle they sit at makes it difficult for the manufacturer's to make something reliable in a short package.
