Power steering warning light.

Hello I new to the forum. My wife drives a 2004, 2.0l sdi and on Sunday while driving on motorway the red light for the power steering came on the dash. I had a good look at it yesterday and can't find anything wrong. All fuses are fine, steering is light, drives normal at high and low speed. I did the the lock to lock test but still the light is red. Our garage can't look at it for a few days, but they are a nice bit away form her house. is it safe to drive there? she will have to drive on the motorway again to get there. Thanks.
