Hi I have seen a couple of pictures of people carpeting the bulkhead, do you put a thin board over the grill area on both sides then carpet over the top

Hi, I just carpeted straight over the grill. This way I got the look and the sound deadening effect whilst still having a little bit of ventilation front to rear.
The carpet follows the grill pattern giving a faint outline which I quite like
