Hi Guys,
I just bought a caddy and i am going to make it into a camper. I had three back seats in when i bought it and i have now removed these but know i am left with the footwells in the back. i want to cover these up and make then into storage compartments. Has anyone done something similar in their van? or has anyone just covered the footwells with ply? Thanks!

Re: New Floor
Think most peoples Caddy's wouldn't have had seats in the back to start with, so the floor would already cover the footwells. Mine certainly was.

Re: New Floor
When converting to a camper it’s common to fit 6mm ply battens, onto that a 12mm ply floor is fitted and then your Altro / safety flooring on top.
This is how we did it in my T5 camper van.
Any cupboards etc are then fixed to the ply floor and walls.
You could cover the foot wells with the 12mm, one piece from the rear, fit some wooden bracing underneath, then cut out some hatches either with handles / holes or hinges for opening.
As said above, in a caddy van with no rear seats, the foot wells are already covered over with a metal plate that I think is spot welded in place.
Hopefully that makes sense.
