Gearbox blown, possible 6 speed conversion

I picked up a sdi caddy with a bst engine, the 5 speed gearbox lost the will to live, and destroyed itself on way home.
Is it worth doing a six speed conversion? What gearbox would I be looking for?

From what I’ve previously read on here. The SDI doesn’t have the power to be able to use the 6th gear properly.
As it failed so soon after purchase, do you have any option to return it to the seller?

I did know that it was on way out, thought I’d at least get it home lol, when I bought van it was missing a gear

thought that I’d get a box easy enough, turns out they are like rocking horse shit

Fair enough mate. Least you knew what you were buying. There may be other boxes that will fit. One of the experts may see this and advise further.

Yeah I did know what I was buying, so no comebacks, but it was really cheap for a 59 plate van

I know your pain it took me a fortnight to get a reconditioned one and there were no second hand ones to be found
