All finished now and as original as it came from the factory, even down to the tool bag … so bit of love for my very much neglected pure grey this winter!Image

Mate this is incredible! Absolutely in love with these beasts. I used to have a MK2 golf and wanted a caddy 2k ever since. This looks amazing, I'm so happy for you, you must be stoked with the results!

This was my old MK2 golf. Had a few crazy things that the previous owner did like Jetta front end, MK3 door handles along with Matt black paint and a bunch of mods on chassis and the MK3 GTi 8v engine inside (:Image

Ah thank you mate! Yes, it’s been a 12 month labour of love this little gem! I took my time and painted it in stages. There was hardly no rust but paint had faded as red did in the 80’ and 90’s … but this deserved some love as its a 1 owner, 54k with full history, all mot’s and every receipt from nee from the SAME dealer, quite unique really and it’s like new both inside and out now. Cheers buddy

Who needs 4 motion anyway!!

Post by hef355 »

Thank you very much for your kind comments guys, i’ve absolutely loved it!

I took my time and painted it in sections, carefully … i’d never make a living painting that’s for sure lol!

But it has been nice going back to where it all started from really and seeing a spark produced by points, plugs and distributor rather than an ecu and looking at a screen to solve a problem!

It runs like a dream and drives like new and I have to say puts as much of a smile on my face as the pure grey in lots of ways …

Some more pics as requested and thanks again!

@Philt3

Thankfully it only owes me my time plus materials of course! Good paint also helps, in this case, vag approved Glasurit commercial 68 line 2K high solid, not cheap but great stuff and you pay for quality! The bed is always the worst on these but this wasn’t bad, however it had a bed liner and water had trapped behind the bed and liner causing a couple of rust patches that were cut out, the only way with rust if you don’t want to see it again! The rest was very near rust free bless her …Image
