I’ve sprung a leak

Post by Jono1 »

The mrs has been out in the van today and complained about a noise coming from the engine bay (passenger side) had a quick look under but couldn’t see anything. But something is dripping under the van.

Took the van out for a bit. Makes a grinding noise when turning left but only at slow speeds.

Got it back home and had another look under, still a drip coming from under but don’t have a clue where it’s coming from.

Any help is appreciated, thanks. Image

It’s usually around engine bay location so if drip somewhere else could just be air con if she’s turned it on maybe

That drip is typically location for air conditioning condensation drain. It's piped from the climate control until into the tunnel just a little bit higher up that where you see the drip form on the heat shield.

CV joints get noisy when they’re on the way out. I’d imagine this would bet louder as speed increases though.
Also the bottom pulley if it’s worn can make a noise on full lock.

Thanks lads. Should the air con drain there? I’ve never noticed the drip before so hopefully that’s just the air con drain.

The only way I can describe the noise is a grinding or rubbing, only when turning left.
