Caddy Remap- which one is better?

Post by greg1990caddy »

Hi everyone,
Im looking to get my caddy remapped. Its 2017 2.0tdi 102bhp.
Previously I had transit connect and it went from 75bhp to 120bhp which was great. This time I checked 4 different companies and 2 of them are saying I will get around 150bhp and its a safe map. The other 2 are saying that I should have around 180bhp easily from 2.0tdi as they standard come with 150bhp, and again its a safe map.

I would love to go for 180bhp but is that not too much? 80bhp extra just on the map?

What do you have? Which one makes more sense to go for?

Thanks for all advice

Any issues? How does it feel to go from 102 to 180?

I struggled to over take on motorway and sometimes fuel acreage ways but not anymore. Mine DSG so it was like 1&1/2 stage upgrade didn’t go for straight through exhaust because of add blue. So standard. Apart from back box removed and quads fitted.
Pulls well. Seems snappy if you put foot down which I try not to do because I worry about gear box . It’s got 19” so feels like it’s on rails now.

I don't think it's a case of which is better. Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like you might be worried about a map creating problems with your engine/transmission?
I'm sure some of the guys with mapped 2.0tdi will join the thread & reassure you. If you want professional advice try Matt at Dubunit or Darkside developments(other tuning companies are available)

You are 100% right. I need my van to be reliable and dont want any issues with it in long run.
I just dont understand why some offer 150 and others 180 with the same information to back up the numbers.
In one sense im thinking is 180bhp too much for the clutch, gearbox etc and should I go with 150 instead?
I will try to contact him.
Thank you

I’d also be interested to know can be achieved from a stock 102 bhp engine by just a remap.

Look at what you are looking to achieve when it comes to remapping, are you looking for bhp, torque, economy etc...

Big bhp figures don't necessarily mean that the van will be better to drive than a more Conservative map with a smoother torque curve.

I'm not going to name any specific tuners out there, but if you speak to companies that actually map the car and road test/look at the values before giving it back and explain what you want, it's always better than a file map that is just uploaded and you are sent on your way...

Hope this helps

I am also thinking about a remap . I see superchips are doing a £100 off remaps if you book before the end of November. Never used them before but they have been about for a while and appear reputable. Maybe someone on the forum has used them before and could comment on there service.

Go to matt at dubunit, had mine done and no issues whatsoever and I give it bean's all the time.
Estimated around 190ish and the torque is amazing, fuel very good and it burns the fingers of many boy racers.

You will not regret it.

I have a 2016 102bhp 5spd that I have owned since new, remapped to 178.9bhp by pendle when only a few months old with approx 10,000km on it. Just hit 150,000km and never had an issue caused by the remap.

My overall reliability has been very good all things considered. Over the lifetime of the van all i have had to replaced is the following, auxiliary water pump failed at roughly 100,000km, replaced a CV joint at 130,000m and just replaced a failed water pump at 150,000km, waterpump was due to be change anyway so not a big deal.

These engines are still very reliable pushing 180bhp. Depending on what use it for, driving style and load you carry the only weak link would be clutch and 5spd gearbox. Saying that I tow a trailer fairly often with mine and carry a decent load of tools in the back for about 50% of its life and no issues to report.

Do you know what the torque increase is with your particular remap?
