Carbon Wrap The Whole Thing?!

Post by NutterKam »

Has anyone actually done, or attempted to, carbon wrap their entire Caddy?! I wonder about the cost and practicality. What is the legal aspect of doing so if the entire vehicle is wrapped in a different colour?! That's right, I really don't like my surf blue very much! Anybody here do wrapping by trade?

I do a bit of wrapping, all carbon looks shit IMO, better with a bit carbon and some matt black, I started doing my caddy matt black with a view to doing it all, but only bonnet done so far as I think I may buy a newer TDI, caddy is easyish to wrap, not too many difficult areas compared to some. but use as good wrap as you can, cheap stuff is cheap shit.
Oh and not many wrappers will do all your shuts, that's the time consuming bit

you have to tell DVLA, you get a revised V5, also tell your insurance,

Hmmm... black/grey 3M Carbon doesn't look right on surf blue :( I wish they made orange or yellow - instead they've made varying shades of brown! LoL Need to get the photoshop out.

That looks Sweeeeeeeeeet! Bat Caddy! Indeed - is it hard to maintain?? And how durable - I mean, if u get a stone chip or someone runs a fingernail is it a redo of the panel?? Those are the main things of concern. With paint, at least it isn't always a respray of the whole panel. Gonna give some guys a call to get a cost :D

Your probably better to do a matt black wrap instead of paint that is unless money is no object

Been quoted 1200 for textured carbon wrap and 1500 for matt black plus 200 for the door shuts. Gotta think long n hard about it. Wasn't that long ago when a full respray was that money... The idea of orange or yellow is growing on me - I could call it my banana boat then!

spoke to darren last night about the wraps in carbon , matt black etc. he said that the maintenance is hard. it can mark easily and when you wash it can go various smeary shades. I think if you lived in a nice warm sunny country with no mud, salt and crap on the roads it would be cool but over here in sunny old england might look great for a couple of months but after that it could be a disaster!
real shame as it looks reaaly good!
