Re: Can a modified caddy look ok without being lowered
@ViralEye, nice one, that's where I got mine from. Was originally concerned about the longevity of replica wheels, however over 2 years & 35k+ miles they've stayed true and properly inflated. Getting a few signs of corrosion in places due to UK winters, but I figured that what I paid on eBay for a set of 4 was less than half the price of a single genuine one, and by the time they're in need of refurb, I'll just get them stripped and sprayed black for winter use, buy another set for summer/best and maybe go for something different or upgrade to 19s.

I e been pondering over a set of 19's R8 reps, or 18's for a nicer ride, and I think 18's are a winner for me and the crap UK roads

Looks about right at £600 inc tyres, mine were £389 without tyres on eBay, then I used a 25% off voucher code that eBay had sent, so £95 off and then £294 paid, then got the tyres locally.

Rally good price that tbh. I know I'll get "cheap soft metal" from others etc, but for £600 I can't really complain

Can’t decide whether to go with 19s or 18s. Will he used as a daily driver for work, currently is on h and r springs but was thinking of putting some coil overs on. Just thinking the 35 tyres are gonna trash the ride.

Got the side strips, spoiler, door cover and front grilles booked in to be sprayed in January. Got a splitter in the post and am hopefully being given some sidebars, which I wanna get powder coated black.

How are you finding the ride with springs?
I'm looking at a similar height & practicality so don't need a "sporty firm" ride.

Not too bad at all, it’s a workhorse so is perfect for that! This is it today!

Re: Can a modified caddy look ok without being lowered
I think that looks great, whats the tyre size and spec please. Also any problems with it rubbing the arch liners on full lock or anything like that?anoneamus wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 9:38 am No ways I would ever lower mine! As others have said the look is governed by how big the tyre is relative to the rim. This pic is with 15" rims. The original (17") rims look a little bit weird (not so much that I'd do anything about it), although the wheel size (rim + tyre) is exactly the same. I expect the gap has to be the same or smaller than the tyre profile to look "good".

VW 15" SIMA alloys (sprayed matte black) with 205/70R15 Goodyear Wrangler AT/SA+. Rear clearance on the arch liner is about 10mm, so bigger tyres wouldn't work. No rubbing on front or rear (even when fully loaded), or any other issues (apart from AT tyres making more road noise than non AT tyres).
