Gave the new workhorse a clean

Post by Not Normal Dan »

New to caddy ownership picked it up at the weekend. Went for a 2.0 diesel mk4 ex sky van off a trader who deals in ex fleet vans mainly VW.

55k on the clock with touch screen sat nav and AC only thing it didn’t have was cruise control which I plan to retrofit later.

Booked in with Matt at Dubunit to change the cambelt next week as not 100% it’s been done so thought I’d start off on the right foot. He also kindly removed the limiter for me earlier in the week too.

The vans relatively clean, few little dents that I’m going to get PDR’d soon and I plan to stick some nice wheels on it and lower it and add a remap also.

Anyway here some pics.

Day I viewed and on the way back after collection

Started by removing the BOTT racking system as I’ll mainly use the van for transporting classic scooters, racking was well fitted probably took me just over an hour and then the missus gave it a good clean out in the back.

I did put the floor back in as it’s sturdy and good for seating the scooters on, plan is to remove the bulkhead and sound deaden and carpet the interior make it a little more homely as I do sleep in my van at race meetings.

Race scoot off to dyno

Dusted the detailing gear off and gave it a quick clean last night before me weekend away racing

Jet wash and snowfoam
Citrus pre wash
2 bucket wash
Iron X
Auto finesse spray was and trim treatment.

Still a few bits of vinyl wrap he and there and some glue residue I think so when time allows that’ll be on the job list to sort.

So far loving it, certainly an upgrade from my old Renault kangoo and looking forward to doing some bits to it as really missed owning a modified car since being into scooters

Very clean Van indeed, a nice purchase for you!

That Bott racking is worth a fair bit so clean it up and stick it up for sale I would! We have it in our work vans and it cost 2k per van to rack out, though we have more shelves etc than what was in yours. Easily worth £500 I would say!

Looking forward to you getting sucked in to the modifying Road, it's never ending!

Cheers mate, I did post on a couple of caddy groups but didn’t really get much interest but still got it and saved all the fixings.

Cheers mate, I was always a french car man and used to do a lot of trackdays but drifted away from that when I got into classic scooters so now days a van is a must but a modified van is the best of both worlds for me lol
