@katiecaddy good luck with it, put the trim tool in the front of the tray, you should be able to gauge where the lugs are from my photos and avoid snapping them. Keep the charge coil as close as you can to the underside because with the rubber pad you still need <8mm-ish gap for the induction to work with the phone. That said I managed the whole job in less than an hour, works flawlessly, I’m a software developer so don’t really do this van stuff well but some Dremel work and 2 wire clips were within my comfort zone 😄

Upgraded the interior light this morning, this is a straightforward plug and play replacement. It uses the OEM fitting and OEM connector so just a 5 minute job to install. Apparently 7x brighter, it certainly looks it, and much whiter too. I'll have a another look after dark.

Very much so, however as with many Caddy mods, this has now brought other “need/want to have” upgrades further forward on the roadmap, specifically side & rear curtains, alcantara type roof & panel lining and Passat W8 front cabin lights with replacement LEDs. These vans are never finished. What I like about this light unit is now when the tailgate is up (have 2 LED spotlights in it already) the whole rear area of the van is illuminated.

Hi, just read this thread! Great van and some really neat ideas.

Just a little question for you, is the fuel consumption a lot better on yours because it's a Euro 6 engine? Mine is a 2011 1.6tdi and I average around 40mpg on the commute to work. On a decent run I can manage around 43mpg, but it is usually fully loaded up then as well.

Thanks in advance!

@GreyLife thanks for the read and comments...

Ref fuel consumption, I'm not sure really, I don't do much town driving, mostly longer journeys / commutes so I'm happy with 55mpg, a bit more on the motorway which is decent for a big non-aero wagon and a manual (formerly) 150bhp. Interestingly, this has hardly dropped since the 190bhp remap, there's so much more torque around 3000rpm, I find it less necessary to change down.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Your fuel consumption is really good! Maybe the higher power helps on yours too. Mines standard with 102bhp, and it's a 'BlueMotion' version too - but only get about 520 miles on a full £70 tank!

Has it had the emissions 'fix'?

I only ask because mine was around that before I had the rollback done and then remap....im up around the 55-60mpg now easy.... 201101.6tdi 102

Hi, not sure if it has had the emissions 'fix'. Have heard about this on VW's (this is my first VW BTW). Silly question, but how would I check if it has been done, and how can it be 'rolled back'? Thanks in advance.

Check here (VIN check):

https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/emissionsinfo

I guess any (non-VW) reputable tuner should be able to roll it back if necessary. Mine is a 17 so is not affected by the diesel-gate issue (well not that one anyway, there could be others!).

If it has, get intro, led back for sure. There are certain versions that apparently can't be rolled back, but they definitely can. SA Tuning in little Hallingbury did mine, and I think matt at dubunit can do it too, so depending on where you are in the world, you can go to either. Dubunit are friends of the forum though, and very Good, by all accounts.

This is my van getting done by SA Tuning.....you can tell by the Audi A1 seats, and my shrunken skull!
(It keeps the bad ju-ju away)

Nice one - as I said my 2017 is fortunately unaffected by that issue but this forum is awash with problems caused by the so-called “fix”.
