Caddy 4 wheel drive build

Post by james400 »

Hi all i thought it's about time I did a build page as I've done affair bit but still lots to do tho so here we go. Basically I have a full rs3 set up what I am fitting to my 08 reg caddy I'm not fitting the engine tho as I like my fuel consumption lol up I am putting more power into the engine so where I'm at is I have now got my new engine what is a fully rebuilt engine what has the 2.0l internals in I have brought all new external parts like oil cooler oil filter housing and hoses silicone ones what are being built at the mo pd150 injectors and will be sending the turbo off to have it rebuilt with bigger inners and bits and bobs.i have brought a mk5 golf cheep too so I can use the mounting points off the rear for the subframe on the rear so had to strip it down and build a jig so I have all the right angles and positions then I've had to cut all the mounting points out and sent them off for stripping just so when I start fitting them in the caddy it's all clean metal.some of the bits I've also done is striped down the gear box cleaned and inspected and replaced what was needed also the same with the transfer box and rear diff iwill update as I goImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

I'm liking this thread.

Shame Caddys didn't come with the same rear suspension as the Tourans - installing the 4motion in my Touran was fairly easily.

Keep it up!

So just a quick up date on this a few more bit have been ordered like uprated anti-roll bar for the front new front wheel bearing and anther set of big front brakes I've removed all the spot welds from the bits on the rear chassis legs and cleaned up was going to send it away to have it all dipped but at £300 I didn't think it was worth it as majority of it will be cut off.the unit has been cleaned and floors painted ready for next weekend when the big strip down starts on the caddy front and rear of it just gota get the big stands built to hold the van up lol

Also forgot to say obviously because I'm running the heldex rear diff I've been a bit worried about it working with my engine ecu but after a long time researching I have found a company that does a stand alone ECU control unit what allows me to play around with the heldex have a look Image

I just took my aero mud flaps off when I repaired my rear wheel arch. Broke them getting them off so they won't be going back on :)
