Re: Crs_b's Caddy - The Daily
Still waiting for my parts to be painted and tyres to be put on the new wheels so I thought I would tick some other things off the list. I finally got the foot well lights installed as well as the red mood lighting that comes on with the lights. I chose to put the red lights in both footwells, under the ashtray and 1 in the roof.
I bought about 20 of these diffused red LEDs with a couple of styles of bulb holders.
I T’d off of the illumination wire and earth on the ASR plug and made this horrendous thing
Then ran all cables and everything to where I wanted them to go, I also ran a power and earth from the interior light to the foot wells for the white lights. One thing that will help out is that I put coloured heat shrink on the cables to make finding everything easier if a bulb was to ever go.
One thing I did have to do was cut a bit of plastic in the passenger footwell and bend it up as you could see the bulb if you we’re sat in the passenger seat. All I did was take a heat gun to it and bent it up and round. I also had to cut the foam cover a bit, I’m still not happy with the placement of the light as it creates a shadow, so in the future ill space it out so if illuminates the whole foot well.
All in all, I’m pretty happy with the results, the white footwell lights really make a difference and the red mood lights give off a very subtle glow that isn’t overpowering and tacky. Forgive me for the photos its hard to take pictures of the red lights on black carpet so I threw a rag on the floor so you can see something at least
Now i'm in the final stages of getting the exterior finished, everything I'm having painted is now with the guy spraying the stuff and the wheels and suspension are still taking up a load of space in the living room fingers crossed it'll all be on in a month.

Re: Crs_b's Caddy - The Daily
So I finally fixed all the photos at the beginning of the thread
Not much has changed with the caddy since the start of the year due to work... other than me being a tit and cracking the front bumper on a stupid tiny wooden post
Ill just be popping it back in place for now and run it through winter.
This winters project will be to turn it into a bit more of a camper, I already have the sound proofing and insulation lined up, and ill also be building a sliding bed. The only thing I can't decide on is wether to remove the bulkhead or not... mainly due to the stealth factor.

Re: Crs_b's Caddy - The Daily
Thanks! I’ve tried to keep it all quite subtle. My winter wheels will be going on it soon though
It’s already had some sort of map and does go alright, ideally I want an ARL conversion but I’m saving for a house and I have a Mk2 Golf 1.8t project on the go aswell. So unless the engine goes bang it’ll probably stay as it is for now.

Re: Crs_b's Caddy - The Daily
Today i finally fitted my stainless steel bike stand that a friend built for me a while ago. The main thing i wanted to do was to make it removable so that if i put a double mattress in there it wouldn't get in the way, because i know i would end up kneeing it
I welded some nuts to the underside of a steel plate and i screwed it to the ply flooring and cut a hole in the carpet for the stand. I probably should of got some thicker steel and just tapped it... but i'm impatient
The next step is to get my spare wheels up on the wall to make a bit more floor space and to finish my blackout curtains.

Thanks!
It’s a 2018 Trance 2 picked it up a few months ago. It’s lovely to ride, seems to be taking anything I’ve thrown at it!

Re: Crs_b's Caddy - The Daily
Well yesterday was a very sh*t day...
I cant say too much about it because of insurance/police reasons but the caddy was driven into at some speed and will most likely be written off as panels arent lining up, so im fairly certain the chassis is twisted pretty heart broken about it, mainly due to the hours i've put in to get it how it was.
At the moment i'm unsure if ill be getting another caddy, so once everything has been sorted with the insurance i will be breaking it for spares. ive put a list together of everything i can think of under the pictures.
ST X coilovers and axel flip kit - (Flip kit may be damaged due to accident)
TTRS top mounts and bearings
3SDM 0.05 alloys 19x8.5 ET42 - (Again, one may be damaged)
235/35 19 Nankang NS20 - (And again 1 needs checking, but it’s still holding air)
Ply lined and carpeted load bay (mostly removable)
Touran front bumper
Touran dash
Touran centre console
Touran carpet
Touran dials and temp gauge
Black painted caddy headlights
Touran electric windows and door cards
Touran side trim (not currently fitted)
Colour coded door handles
Mk4 Golf GTI Seats
Double din kenwood radio (its old and i might keep it, there's no bluetooth or anything)
Reverse camera
Heko wind deflectors
Side rail cover
Colour coded rear number plate trim
Colour coded front and rear bumper
Colour coded door handles
Tinted (with tint film) rear lights
BLS Engine and gearbox on 116k
I think all the following has covered less than 10k but I would need to double check
It also needs a service which I was about to get done but due to the accident I now won’t be.
Remapped but no readout or info on it
Cam belt - Dec 2017
Clutch - Dec 2017
Flywheel - Dec 2017

thats rubbish news if it doesn't feel too vulture-like, id show interest in the centre console though.

That’s fine, I want to get it advertised early to get the ball rolling, it may not be for weeks yet until I hear anything about it but I will put your name down for the centre console

harsh to see the crash damage as she looked a tidy van to begin with and love the little mods you've done.
