Hello all,

I’m a first time van owner and first time modifier! I guess there is a first time for everything.

I’m 24 and I’m a contemporary painter from Milton Keynes. I purchased the van nearly 3 months ago to make it easier transporting my paintings around the country. However after following some very inspiring threads on this forum I have compiled a long list of mods that seems to be growing by the day.

As a ‘struggling’ artist money is tight so I’ll try and do as much myself to save money but there are some things I will not have the skills to do. I’m in this project for the long run so I imagine progress will be steady. As long as I can manage a mod a month I’ll be happy. I will be striving for something that’s hopefully as high quality, and as beautiful, as some of the builds on here, so the focus will really on quality and doing things right.

My initial focus will be on the interior and colour coding bodywork

The plan:

Interior:
Sound deaden and carpet line load bay
Trim the heading, dashboard, door cards to match
New seats
New stereo and upgraded sound system
Replace nasty plastic with leather/aluminium trim e.g. window switches, door handles, handbrake etc
Golf R steering wheel, gearstick

Exterior:
Colour code mirrors
Colour coded Touran side mouldings
Mk4 tail light conversion
Sirocco R front bumper build
Mk4 rear bumper conversion
Side skirts
Coil overs
18” shoes

Under the hood:
Engine cover
Stage 2 remap
Air intake upgrade

A pretty long list to be getting on with, it’s only going to get longer.....

@Lister79 cheers mate, I hope so. Your Toffee Delights is one of my favourites I’ve seen on here. If I can get anywhere near your build quality I’ll be chuffed I have next to none mechanical/modifying experience, so will be a learning curve for sure. I’m already obsessed

Have you upgraded your rear lights to the mk4 mate? I want to do the same with mine but don’t know if it’s a like for like swap or if they need coding?

Unfortunately one of my injectors went whilst coming home along the A41 couple of weeks ago so had to get that replaced. Found that the fuel return pipe was also leaking a few days after to add insult to injury. Diesel everywhere. New pipe fitted and all sorted. Was hoping to buy some seats and some carpet but unfortunately the engine trouble ate into the money allocated for that. Have however acquired some Touran bases. Today I gave them a test fit which gave me the chance to give underneath the seat a good once over. Forgot to photograph with the bases in place but they are pretty tidy for what I paid for them

Also fabricated a new roof lining to delete the load light light because I think that looked nasty. Will be fitting led strips instead. Also tidies up where the bulkhead used to be screwed in to the roof. All the single skin areas in the back have been Silent coated, including behind the doors and roof. used dodo matt directly on top and it's brilliant stuff. Just need to tidy up any joins with aluminium tape and silent coat the floorImageImageImageImageImageImage

@Kyle! Cheers man. Just birch ply I had lying around mate, think it was about 4mm, gave it a wax too - the plugs were a bastard to get back in!
