The pockets are genius! Been wanting something like that but didn't want a plastic and mesh one so this is perfect!

Re: Caddy Maxi Kombi - Camper Project
Hey dude, ah I thought I had the map sussed! Still, two great places, I know the lakes well but have only been to Dartmoor a couple of times. I’m josheightynine on Instagram, no van stuff on there at the moment though, it’s mostly just photos from trips to the hills. I’ve got some vinyl lined up for my roof lining but I spoke to a vinyl fitter the other day and he wasn’t sure it would work, trial and error I guess! Going to give it a go and hope for the best. I’ll get a build thread up on here soon, not much to show yet, sound deadening and insulation done and I had the leisure battery fitted this week. The list just gets longer though doesn’t it?!

Will you attach the vinyl to the factory roof panel?
We've decided to add not leisure battery and just use a decent portable power pack and have some USB rechargable lights. Too used to camping!

I’m cutting a new one out of ply, planning on using some primer on it too to make the surface a bit smoother, and maybe some of the high temp adhesive spray. Watch this space!
I feel you on the camping part, the main reason we bought the van was because we were fed up of arriving at the hills at midnight on a Friday night and trying to find somewhere to chuck a tent up or a campsite to sneak into. I was just going to leave it as a panel van, then I found this forum! I have found myself mourning for my tent slightly but there’s backpacking trips lined up once all this madness is over.
Must have a chat with you about how you did the inside switch on the tailgate, I need that in my life! Great idea!

Testing out another pocket idea which I've seen on the forum.
This is just a prototype, I plan to replace these door cards with some 4mm ply.

Finished the door pockets
Sources some roof bars, and added a Keder rail ready for the awning/tarp!

Hi, this looks great, I've just bought a Caddy to do a very similar project, especially interested in the rear door release you have fitted.

Hi,
Just wondering how big the bed is when fully folded away.
Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben!
I can measure it up for you. Do you want to know the size of the actually bed or distance from the panel? It sits next to the wheel arch at the same height.
Cheers,
Sam

Hi Sam,
If you wouldn't mind the length of the load space from back of rear seats to doors would be great.
Thanks,
Ben

Re: Caddy Maxi Kombi - Camper Project
The length of the bed is 126cm. The distance from the back of the seats to the rear door when closed is approx 145cm (there is a bit of a gap between the bed and the tailgate). The bed is 60cm wide when stowed.
Hope that helps!
Sam

Re: Caddy Maxi Kombi - Camper Project
A good run with the bikes on the roof at the weekend! 4 passengers, 2 bikes inside and 2 on the roof. MPG suffers as expected but looks pretty cool

Re: Caddy Maxi Kombi - Camper Project
Sam that is great thank you. Have been looking for ages but the only figure I could find was about 1800mm which I assume is with the rear seats folded forward.
Thanks again,
Ben
