Hi, I removed the mirror by twisting it off from the window, then carefully, very, very carefully applied heat from my blowtorch (with a bit of shielding from an old bit metal sheeting I had) onto the small fitting left on the window and then when thought it seemed hot enough I used the pump pliers to twist it off.

Used the meths, the tar remover and the utility knife blade to gently scrape away the residual glue

I’m not recommending it, I removed as I didn’t need a rear view mirror anymore and was looking for something to do I started off filling a stone chip on the passenger side A pillar with paint and it caught my eye so I thought, it’s time that was gone

Today’s tweaks to Bleu...

New sidelight LED lamps, a little brighter than the originals Image

And a little earlier...

A wash and brush up...
Image

Even used the 2 bucket method, first time in my life!

Image

And even before that the postie arrived with a little something for the winter!

Image

Just need to salvage a heater matrix when we’re allowed out to play.

Mods still to do :-

1. Finish off the cutting and polishing - waiting on some more product and a new polisher being delivered
2. Headlight tweaks
3. Remap
4. Carpet the sides
5. New front seats
6. Trial fitting of a VW flip emblem reversing camera into a spare barn door(long term project!)
7. Retro retrims for the A pillars
8. New lights for the roof
9. Dukes of Hazard air horns (so ‘70’s)
10. Electric window upgrade
11. Flat bottomed steering wheel, unsure yet which one
12. Cruise control
13. Repair/replace chipped windscreen
N+1. Buy a newer Caddy and start again

Why does the list never get any smaller?

After cleaning the wheels on my other car I thought I’d get the hot air gun out and give the Caddy’s scuffed up bumper a wee treat...

Before

And after

So I went on and applied the hot air gun to the rear one too, well chuffed with the results.

And the new touch up paint arrived so I filled in a few of stone chips, tomorrow’s task will be to flatten them and clear coat

When you fitted your repeaters, was there any foam between the light and the wing?
Fitted mine and they are very loose.

Hi, no, mine are reasonably tight. I can move them a bit, but they don’t rattle or anything.

A little bit of double sided tape might help to keep them in place and still allow removal.

Am going to find some single sided foam tape in black, will be enough to tighten them. Am still very happy with them and the service I got from them.
Thank you again

After seeing what a bit of hand cutting and polishing could do to my van’s bonnet

Image

I’ve been and bought one of these beauties to cut, polish and seal the whole van and save my old elbows!

Image

That’s tomorrow’s wee job sorted, after an hours Zwift meet-up of course
