Let the build begin
Ah, not good! However, when you’re ready it will go back in a little easier and quicker
Pity you’re not closer to me, I could have helped fit it and code it in for you

Re: Let the build begin
Thank you, everybody seems so far away.
If closer would have let you have the dye you need
I think it’s been decided I’m going to get vcds, 10 vin, need to buy some haribo to clinch the deal

Re: Let the build begin
the 10 VIN seems sensible, you can always upgrade to the pro version later if required.
Download and have a read through the 75 page user manual, not too heavy a read and it covers a lot of the basics of VCDS and register with Ross-tech for great support from their forum.
A couple of tips... some changes won’t take if the engine is running, like cruise control.
Always, always do an auto scan then save it with a meaningful title before you make any changes whatsoever!
And if the coding is accepted but when you check, the changes haven’t been made it could be because the plug isn’t quite seated in the port on your van and needs a wiggle and a push.

Re: Let the build begin
Replaced my midline SWCM with a high line version (CF) codes it in, cruise control now working as it should along with the buttons on the steering wheel, result!!!!
Replaced the halogen headlight bulbs with Osram night breakers and got rid of the fried egg look by replacing the orange indicator bulbs with some chrome ones
And took the bike to the trails for the first time since lockdown this morning too , flipping awesome day so far!
Bike washed and oiled before heading home, fantastic feeling!
First part of my new exhaust arrived as well... just the tail piece and the cherry bomb to come

Lights looking better without the fried eggs
Am I right thinking you have cruise on stalks and trip, and mfsw with trip too? Any conflicts?

Let the build begin
Papa Bear 4 button cruise on the stalk and phone/volume and display buttons on the wheel, I removed the trip stalks in case they clashed with the wheel buttons. The wheel is one of the 8 button ones as it was easier to fit. Still to find and install a highline cluster, however not on any rush as I’m still trying to get VAG CAN Commander to work on my laptop and see if I can then extract the code from my existing Immobilizer, if not then I’ll need to cough up and pay someone up here to do it for me once I have a suitable highline instrument cluster
Volume up/down working
Mute working
Call answer working
Display buttons - to be confirmed when I get a suitable cluster
Cruise control all working

Re: Let the build begin
Cool, not got my head around what is involved in cluster replacement yet, love the look of the 3D ones and colour but may just stick with mine. Thinking of finding one in a scrapy to play with changing the leds and needles to blue before doing it on my one.
Thinking I’m going to have to buy another set of stalks as I got the ones with trip, thinking I wouldn’t bother with mfsw but missing volume buttons on my wheel lol
Will probably fit the ones I have until I find the deal of the century mfsw

Let the build begin
I’m already thinking about my next MFSW and highline cluster
The list just gets bigger, and bigger!
3. Remap - post lockdown
6. Trial fitting of a VW flip emblem reversing camera into a spare barn door(long term project!) - binned unless I swap the barn doors for a tailgate.
7. Retro retrims for the A pillars - now changed to hydro dipping
9. Dukes of Hazard air horns (so ‘70’s)
14. Centre console
15. Touran dash
16. Touran/Tiguan instrument cluster
18. Dye the cab headlining
19. Lowering kit
21. Passat interior light
22. New exhaust minus the back box though - arrived, waiting to install
23. Replacement colour coded rear bumper
24. Diesel filter cover
26. 12 button MFSW

Re: Let the build begin
that film issue. All I wanted was to make it darker and would it work, would it
I couldn't clean the rear windows and not destroy the heating elements. How did you do it?
Looking smart

The rear light tint or the reaper vinyl?
The vinyl is on the outside and was much easier to apply than the tint. I also don’t use my heated rear window as I have steel plates installed on the inside and a solid bulkhead.
Once this vinyl fades or looks tatty I’m going to get the local graphic place to scan the van colour and print me off some matching colour vinyl and I’ll pop that on instead, make it more like solid doors.

Let the build begin
So, LED’s for the fog/DRL’s arrived this morning, fitted and error free, at the moment
Look pretty good quality, LED’s encased in a glass envelope, these are Nighteye 1600LM HB4/9006 White 6500k LED Bulbs
Before with the 55w halogens
LED’s installed...

Re: Let the build begin
Spent a few hours this afternoon rooting round my local scrappy’s
Came home with a potential interior light with sunglass holder as well as another engine cover
Finished painting my new exhaust
Swapped out the white bulbs in my footwell lights for some red LED’s
Booked my remap
Updated list of mods and tweaks...

Re: Let the build begin
it’s become a bit of a competition between the missus and me, she hunts the covers down when I’m salvaging other parts! The score is 2-1 to her!
The BLS covers are pretty rare so I’ve started to pick them up where I can

I’ve not taken my Mrs to the scrappy yet, I’d miss out on the bacon sarny if I did (no darling, I don’t really have one whenever I go to the scrappy )
Not got a cover for mine yet, are you sure you’ve not been down here raiding my locals?
