Yeah, I was hoping some of the bits would stay, no rush though, just going to enjoy the cold air for a bit

I’m also extremely lucky that we have another car and I can afford for the van to be laid up for a bit.

Where did you buy the black lights
Have you thought about modding them with the DLR fitted and selling them to blokes like me to fit ready done
They look awesome well done

Let the build begin

Post by C Chis »

Hi buddy, cheers!

I had a pair of Touran lights that I split and modded, wanted black to match the other blacks bits on my van.

I have another set that I’m going to mod at some point and then sell on my first ones, it will be a while before I get to them as I’m back MTB coaching now that scotgov and BC/SC are allowing it.

As well as other mods I have in hand

So, went for a wee day out to another local scrappy and came back with....

Touran dash & air bags
Touran centre console including all the mounting hardware and heater pipes
Golf centre console, to mod the drinks holder in the Touran console to the roller one and cover with Alcantara, thanks to this forum
Touran highline instrument cluster and keys
Climatronic heater/ac box and controls
2 Touran bases
2 RLS’s - both slightly different, hopefully I’ll get one to work
Touran carpets, they are perfect and black!
Fuse board “C” handy for fuses and repair wires for more fuses
Leather covered handbrake ought about the rear seats, however the brackets were held on with a gazillion spot welds and I gave up after drilling out 4 of the spot welds! I want to keep my bulkhead in place, wanted, but didn’t need them

And the list continues...

9. Dukes of Hazard air horns (so ‘70’s)
16. Touran/Tiguan instrument cluster - complete, fitting the Touran one now
19. Lowering kit - all here along with new top mounts, wishbones and ball joints, waiting on workshop space to fit
23. Replacement colour coded rear bumper
24. Diesel filter cover
28. TV/DVD/multimedia unit for the back
30. Barn door to tailgate conversion and flip camera (long term)
34. Front splitter - complete - fitted along with the climatic aircon
35. Interior unlocking button for the side door
36. Heated and electrically adjustable seats
37. RLS
38. Engine/gearbox upgrade, power, more power... very, very long term

It certainly did, about 5 hours all in! Good thing was the yard moved the Touran into one of their big sheds so I could work away in the dry, awesome bunch of lads!

Phoning them tomorrow as they’re getting me a price for a replacement engine (nice big petrol monster ImageImage) gearbox, drive shafts and ecu, etc... I’m feeling inspired by all the engine replacement talk on this money pit of a forum ImageImageImage

Oh, and a price for these with tires, 19x8.5”, hyper silver or satin black. New, boxed £300 for a set of 4 without tires, need to check if they are the bargain I hope they are Image

Need to start saving my pension up again Image

engine replacement will be a very long term project, if at all. The scrapyard has a few really nice, low mileage cars with good engines, etc, would be rude not to find out the price

Lazy day today,

Popped my new cluster in to see if the display was good, pleased to say, yip, all good, needs coded now Image

Image

And I stripped down the fuse board I removed from the donor Touran, I now have quite a few repair wires and fuses Image

Image

And my Alcantara samples arrived this afternoon, decisions, decisions... however, I think the middle one wins for my centre console mod

can’t help myself!

However, you’re right, I need to slow down and stop, however whenever I think that’s it, something else pops up on this forum and I think, hmm...

No, not done my seats yet, I’d forgotten about them
