Marts Caddy

Post by Martdacaddy »

Hi peeps thought I’d start a build thread as been playing about with the caddy I brought last week.

These are the photos the seller took

Mechanical the van is sound but bodywork up close isn’t great so I started to see how much of the scratches etc I could get out with g3 and a polisher

Managed to get a lot of the scratches out of the van but the front wings are quite bad and dented so went on eBay to hunt for a pair of wings

These seem great value so ordered them up!

Next parts to order are wing mirror trims as mine are missing

Does anyone know why the photos ain’t showing.

I’m using google photos to create a link for each photo for example:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/889UfvecCDKbw3d67

Then putting Image and the link in the middle of that.

Am I doing something wrong?

Cheers

That’s done it guys cheers

The next thing I had to do was put the bulkhead back in and was just in the back with a bag of fixings the joys!

Now that’s all back together. I wasn’t happy enough with the bodywork after polishing and knew I need to spray the wings anyway which have arrived.

Image

Now onto the repairs on the van, I didn’t get a close up photo of the rear door but it looked like it had been sprayed before badly so started rubbing it down.

Image
Image

This was the panel I initial polished and got the scratches out but was still left with a nasty crease in the panel.

Image

Body filler applied.

Image

The other door had a small dent just below wing mirror, filler applied.

That’s both panels repaired, had a nasty dent on the bottom of the other rear door aswell

Image

Pulled out the best I could get it.

Image

Filler applied and rubbed down.

Image

I will say now I’m no professional when it comes to bodywork I’m self learning as I go. Im better on the tools. I’ve already learned that spraying the primer right up to the masked area only gave me a headache as was harder to run down the primer.

Time to strip the battered wings off and clean the inner wing area.

Front bumper off.

Image

Quick clean.

Image

Now all the primers been flatted down and it’s masking up time.

Now time to get the paint on.

Image

Image

This basically brings us up to date. So today I pulled the van out to inspect the bodywork.

Image

Building up the new wings.

Image

Image

Image

Next stage is getting the caddy lowered. Picked these coilovers up for a great price. But need a good clean!

Image

Springs off and painted

Seems like I can’t upload anymore photos on here unless I go Vip on Tapatalk. I’ll get that sorted and carry on with the updates.

Cheers gazza has been over a couple weeks but definitely making progress now.

Right gonna try another image hosting site

So pulled the springs off.

Image

Only had two choices of paint to use white or yellow, couldn’t leave them as they were so.

Image

Gave the struts a good wire brushing

Image

In between coats I started stripping the wipers off and panel to access top mount bolts

Image

Image

Years of dirt under there so gave it a clean

Image

Wiper motor removed

Image

To get access to top mount bolts

Image

Cleaned metal tray

Image

Now that’s where we are at the moment!

Cheers for reading.
