You’re flying along with this build mate! Well done
Your bodywork repair skills look spot on too, I’ve a feeling it’s going to be a good one when it’s finished - especially if you get that GTI lump in

Wheel liners fitted:
A friend has got silver hammerrite paint for me to do the callipers. Which will be done tomorrow.
Made a start on flatting the paintwork aswell:
That’s it for today, going back up to the workshop tomorrow to finish off flatting the bodywork and polishing.
Sadly the paint hasn’t arrived to do the alloys but can get them in primer tomorrow if all goes to plan

How do you actually adjust the wings so that they line up correctly?

Cheers gazza
Tonyhill:
The ones I got are pattern wings of eBay. Great value for money but can be a bugger to fit. These weren’t the worst really, you’ve just got to get the wings on loosely and move the wing in the right place and nip the bolt up in that area and so on.
On the drivers wing I had to take a dremel to the wing fixing to the sill as the hole was way off. But the passenger side was perfect.

Sunday update:
Made a start on flatting the new paint using 1500 wet and dry:
This took a good few hours, but managed to get it fairly flat:
After flatting started with the machine polishing using g3 compound:
Rear door:
Passenger side:
Really happy with how the paintwork has turned out. Still need to run the polisher over with a finesse compound which is finer grade.
I’m on the hunt for a Touran front bumper to finish the front off.
Unfortunately run out of time as had to do a sill repair on a VW Touran funnily enough:
Gonna order up the rear shackle and weld on flip kit now. So will have that to do next weekend and get on with refurbishing them alloys.

Bit more done to the caddy this weekend:
Getting the wheels prepped
All rubbed down:
On stands ready for primer:
Been on the look out for a Touran front bumper but couldn’t find one local at all!
So going to spray the standard one for now. Front bumper mounted on the spray stand:
Rear bumper and side mouldings getting prepped for primer:
Might aswell do the door handles while I’m at it
:
All in primer:

Now time for paint, tackled the wheels first that way had more room to spray the body parts.
Group photo
:
Really happy with the finish on them:
Now onto bumpers etc
Front bumper all flatted down ready for paint:
Rear bumper needed abit of stopper added after the primer to get rid of small imperfections:
Had a right pain spraying the handles in primer as was just holding them then carefully trying to put them down without touching the paint.
So came up with a solution:
Front bumper in white:
Rear bumper:
Side mouldings:
The door handle washing line worked a treat
:
Used some of the left over paint from the wheels to do the VW badges aswell:

Nice progress! Regardind the bumper, woudn't be nicer to paint the bottom grills in black and also to make a fake black grill so you can have some contrast?
Something like in the photo, but not so much black, the owner tried to immitate the facelift Touran bumper, but I meant the prefacelift grill.
Btw, this is not mine, I founded somewhere for sale.

Yeah I total get the idea he’s going for there. The front bumper painted is just to much of one colour and isn’t ideal. This is just a temporary solution until I find a Touran bumper and I’ll spray that up. Can use the time to practice on my spraying anyways

Ok time for a few updates:
So when I removed the handles to do the bodywork I heard something drop on both doors. So time to strip the doors down:
Looks like the last person who fitted these back together didn’t put them in right so had to dig out the loose parts in the bottom of the door and build them back up:
Now that’s done I can finally put the handles in. It’s always the simplest jobs that take the longest right
