Aerial in way of rails

Post by Nate76 »

Hi
My ex GB van has 2 aerials in the way of the roof rails. Are these fitted by GB would radio work with out them although taking them out and filling holes is not desired.
Could I just drill a hole in the rail and put the aerial in side, would this affect the rails they do have screw hole through them anyway so would extra hole make any difference to strengh
Any other options?
Why they would be put in the way of the rails confuses me any help please

From what I’ve read on here, they are for the BG radio etc, not the normal radio.
Could they be removed and just a bung fitted?

British gas wouldn't have interest in putting the rails on would they, so they didn't care where the aerials went.
I had 3 aerials on mine and they all went no where.
The aerial for the radio is in the driverside wing mirror.
I've seen people use rubber grommets to fill the hole or bolts

As the others have said, just whip them out and fill the holes mate. I used some blue anodised bolts I, errr, borrowed from work.
