Mountain bike mover

So as well as my new Caddy being an everyday vehicle, one of the main reasons for switching from having a car to a van was to easily transport my mtb. I bought a fork mount online and decided rather than bolting it to the van itself, I’d attach it to a removable piece of 2x4. As well as being a nice snug fit (measure twice cut once n all that), I used some door bolts to help keep it secured in place in transit. Pretty happy with how it’s worked out and took it for its maiden voyage yesterday, rock solid :) Image

Looks great, do you think you could get two bikes in side by side like this or would you need to 'top and tail' them?

When the latest trend goes to 900mm bars, you'll struggle!

Lovely looking van though.....sits nice!
I can easily get two bikes side by side, but I dont have a fork mount. Both large size, 29er and 29plus

Jealous of this as my tree frog mount is starting to have a little bit of movement after a year of dragging my bike round.

Got a link to the fork mount you used?

Thanks! Yeah I’ve checked it and will be able to fit another one side by side, slightly staggered so the handlebars don’t clash. The design of the bulkhead means the passenger side bike can go in the van that little bit further.

Haven’t got a link for the hooks I used for the wheel though, I found them in B&Q and have also seen them in Boyes.

Awesome cheers bud.

How’s the 2x4 held in place? Just made it snug or do the fork mount bolts go through to the van floor?

It is a snug fit but I’ve also used some door bolts to keep it located. I didn’t want to mount it to the van floor itself so this is the solution I came up with to make it quickly removable.

It’s an XL frame, 27.5. My mates XL 29er fits in alongside no bother too. You won’t regret it

Setup looks great! I think about having a similar sort of mounting solution every now and then but I tend to have a bunch of bikes on the go and love just throwing the bikes wheels on. Lazy to the core!

Looks great.. I’ve bought one to cart my BMX’s around and my tat and tool.

I’ve been Thinking about building a false floor the store the bikes on top and tool and spare underneath.
I want to build the box close to the back doors, so if needs be I can still fit seats in the back.

Any advice you’ve got would be great.
