Re: SWB - Blackberry

Have been toying with the idea of upgrading the headlights to the Xenon models, but the price/reviews have been quite critical.

A few days ago I stumbled across some LED strips intended to be used in headlights, and for ~£20 I can't actually complain!
Obviously it's not the same quality level as OEM 😅 but it gives me the desired effect of a DRL, and dynamic indicators for a bonus.
Just need to find some canbus LEDs for the side lights now.

The undertray you mentioned a while ago would help with airflow under the car improving cooling, fuel economy and as a bonus help with noise.

Finally, it's low!
BC Racing set to 70mm drop - wanted to keep some functionality.
Whilst down there I fitted the slightly larger maxi RARB, not sure I can feel the difference but it was cheap and easy to fit, so... 😅

I've also swapped the front grille to the alltrack style grille, and got rid of the original dumbo wing-mirrors for the mk4 'aero' mirrors. Looks better IMO and gets rid of the horrendous whistle!

Nice work @BenXCIV
That’s a lovely looking SWB, credit to you 👍I’m a Maxi, and the 24mm ARB going on next week 🤪 it’s been highly recommended.

Thanks!

Is that the whiteline one? I might be tempted to upgrade to that at some point.
I considered it originally but then found a maxi one on ebay for ~£40 so it was hard to argue with.

That’s right the Whiteline from Darkside mate, as I said it’s been highly recommended by others on here, and at my local VW independent, stops the wallowing 😂 apparently, perhaps someone who’s done this can chip in ? 🤔

Fitted a Darkside intake, many turbo noises now 😅

Also can't rate their customer service highly enough!
I ordered a set of their rear shackle support blocks but unfortunately couldn't fit them due to the hole spacing on the BC kit (I knew this may be the case when ordering them). So I just emailed them asking if anything could be done and they immediately offered to return the original set and fab me a custom set for no additional cost. 🙌

Just a small tid-bit update.
Finally found a bulkhead for a sensible price, and the time to cut & carpet it. Also took the ply down and carpetted the skin instead, not sure if I prefer it tbh 🤷

Hi, Just a quick question, how do the extra door seals fit?
Is there specific clips for them? Or are they bonded into place?
What sort of price were they from VW?
Thanks katie

From memory they were ~£40, and they just stick on with a pre-applied 3m tape.

Probably could have just ordered a reel of the stuff for way cheaper and done it myself, but like you I didn't know if the VW seals clipped in or something.

Saved me measuring I guess 😅
