Caddy R32 build

Post by CaddyR32 »

New member introducing myself and my new project! I'm Jason or CaddyR32 and I'm about to embark on a Caddy 3.2 VR6 engine swap complete with 4WD system. I've bought myself a 2006 caddy and a 2005 Audi A3 3.2 quattro as the donor vehicles so I'm just about ready to get to work on the project! I hope you guys enjoy the project as much as me, I'll be sure to make it picture heavy and as accurate and honest as I can! Hopefully people can learn from it and do the same if they fancy in the future! :D

Thanks for the kind words so far guys!
Small update... and not a good one unfortunately! I wanted to bring the van up to my painter for him to give it the once over, he wasnt impressed with the condition of the bodywork on the van. He recommended I got rid and got a straighter van to start with.
I knew the van had dents but I didn't think they'd be an issue, he knows how fussy I am and said no amount of filler would work and panel beating would get a panel back as nice as an undented straight one. he suggested I pay a bit more and get straighter van, the cost difference in the vans would be reflected in the cost of the respray and result in a much nicer end product.

This was hard news to take as I was all set to start the work this weekend but deep down I know it's the right thing to do! I'm selling this current van and on the hunt for a nice van circa £3k.

Thats so cool!! I've never seen one in person, I've just always had a huge soft spot for the 3.2 VR6 and I love the practicality of a van! plus... I can't wait to surprise a few people who think its still a diesel! lol.
