I'm sure you will, it's so modifiable just like the old VWs (but with less rust and better electrical systems)

Had a spare bit of time when i got home from work , so swopped the thermostat .

Suspicion was correct , it was stuck open .

The coolant was Brown , no sign of any antifreeze , so it’ll get changed again in the summer .

Spent another half hour on it after getting home .

Mirror glass replaced
Heater resistor replaced , now have all fan speeds working
Wiper arms adjusted & new blades fitted

Now to see when i can get it in for an MoT & fingers crossed it won’t need anything major .

A job i hate doing , but always like the end result .

Removing sign writing .

On this van every digit is individual , so has taken a while to remove them & then the left over glue .

Also removed the wheel trims , definitely a big improvement .

Needs a service next , when i get time , then in for an MoT .

Love the scirocco. What’s the spec of it?

Cheers .

It’s a Scala 1.8i .
All original apart from the suspension & wheels .
Was fully rust proofed from new , so still really solid . Can only find one small patch of welding that’s been done .

It’s got a couple of war wounds , the worst being o/s/r quarter .

They do , but it’s not ideal having white wheels in winter !! 😂

Went in for an MoT last week .

I managed to break down in the carpark !!

After a lot of messing about it turns out i’d ran out of fuel , even though the gauge showed half a tank , I wasn’t happy , but the lads at the MoT place helped sort it .

It passed after having a headlight adjustment .

Few advisory’s to sort .

A front caliper to replace as it’s sticking on slightly & imbalanced .

Both front tyres perished , the only excuse i need for a set of bigger wheels to be ordered .

Still waiting on my insurance company to get their act together , so still can’t insure & drive it yet , but plenty to be getting on with when i get a spare 5 minutes .

For a £1200 caddy, that’s a decent advisory list. Seems you’ve bought wisely mate

@the swan fiend
Not sure about wisely , more by luck . 😂

Picked a set of good condition MK5 Golf GT seats up for £25 yesterday .

Got a cheap 2nd hand set of coilovers off this site , so it’s turning into a real budget build .

Yeah I saw those for sale I think. Definite bargain on the seats. I’d have paid about £500 for them!
Keep up the bargain hunting mate.

Slow progress is still progress , right ??

Managed to fit the replacement caliper .

Also fitted the front coilovers, with new top mounts & adjustable drop links .

Still got 20mm on the threads , so might drop it a bit more once i’ve done the rear .

£1200! That’s mega pricy! I got mine for £200, new engine and a front wishbone bush and it’s back on the road. Your vans coming along nicely. Wish mine was white. Like you it’s on a mega tight budget but built with crap left over from years of hoarding VW bits. That scirocco is gorgeous too! Beetle what year? I’ve got a late shape RHD notchback, pretty rare and with 260ish HP.
