If you don't cut the shaft down the golf knob won't clamp on properly as it doesn't go down far enough to reach the knurled part on the shifter shaft that holds it firmly in place

Wanted to buy a similar shift knob but I wasn't sure about the cutting , once you do it there is no turning back😁 so I bought one that doesn't require cutting.
But is good to know the exact procedure, maybe I'll do it in the future. Thanks for sharing👍

Great to see a build from back home! And loving the blue theme. Are the Caddys popular in NZ? I'm in Aus now and haven't found many modded one here.

Thanks.

Nah not that popular. I only know of a couple of modded ones. One on this forum with VR6 engine swap.

Looking good man. Here in Oz, just getting parts is a killer and when you finally find some, they are way over priced :( They never ever got the Touran here

Yeah that sucks, Oz missed out on so many cars.
I got my steering wheel off gum tree in Sydney for $120. So there are some cheap parts there haha.
I got some sent over from UK which cost way too much as I couldn't find stuff here.

loving your work dude especially the led swap on the components! How difficult was it to do? I'm planning on swapping all mine out too but I'm not decided on a definite colour scheme yet

It's not too hard if you have a good soldering iron. The hardest is to get the aircon controls apart. The center dial takes a bit of effort to get off.
There are different Leds so you need to make sure each one has the same luminous intensity.
I got mine from RS Components
4 V Blue LED Side View SMD, Kingbright KA-4040QBS-D

4 V Blue LED PLCC 2 SMD, Kingbright KA-3528QBS-D

4 V Blue LED PLCC 2 SMD, Kingbright KA-2214QBS-D
