Caddy Alltrack from South Africa

Post by Steve-O »

Hey everyone

Long time Caddy van and owner for just under a year now, hailing from South Africa.

I was lucky to buy my van as it currently is, with lots done to it already, but I've also got some future plans for the Alltrack.

Current mods are as follows:

Custom front bumper. OEM 7.5R and Alltrack bumper which was plastic welded together.
Wheel arches colour coded
Air By Plush custom bags and hinged leafs, with Accuair CVT and E-Level.
Stage 1 Revo Tune and straight pipe
Interior made piano black
OEM 19" Cadiz Wheels
Rockford Fosgate Sound Install

Looking to change the system to Airlift in the near future, as well changing the wheels.

I'm an automotive photographer and filmmaker so the Caddy works really great for shoots as well. If anyone's interested you can see some of my work here www.instagram.com/stefankotzemedia and I also shoot and write for Speedhunters.

I must say I was expecting something very different from the title but it does look fancy and South Africa is a wonderful country so + points for that.

Nice Caddy! I have the Cross. Wish there was a 4Motion Cross/Alltrack available here...

Thanks, I just wish the Alltrack was actually 4 Motion over here in South Africa. It's only offered in FWD.

Caddy Alltrack from South Africa

Welcome to the forum Steve and I agree, your Caddy is lovely my friend! Love your shooting skills too as pics are stunning!

If I can be of any help feel free to ask me anything!

I’ve converted my van to 4 wheel drive and it works a treat and drives/handles like an RS3!

Hope you enjoy your experience on the forum as the wealth of knowledge, experience and skills on here continues to inspire me still to this day

Thanks, appreciate the welcome and kids words

Oh damn I'll go check it out, that must be really cool. Did you convert the rear to 4 link suspension or still kept the leaf springs?

I'm hopefully getting some new wheels today, OEM Spielbergs Image

Thanks mate, I quite like the wheels you have if i’m honest!

No, I replicated the original Quattro set up at the back of the Caddy. I kept the original Caddy floor integrity ... as some just cut the whole Caddy floor out and transplant the whole rear floor section of an RS3 or similar back in. I think this weakens the whole car and mimics a cut and shut type vehicle.

My Caddy looks oem everywhere, by cutting the rear arch tubs and extending them inwards inside the van by 70mm each side, making room inside the arch tub to accommodate the original shock bracket and shock absorber. R36 chassis rails then replaced the original Caddy rails and a jig was used to to line everything up and weld all the brackets in to hold the rear diff/axle running gear. Prop shaft was precision cut to fit and balanced too. RS3 coil springs were used as an integral part of the rear axle and lower arms set up! Here are some pics for you ...Image

Bru that's mega! What a conversion.

Have you ever thought of doing a Speedhunters feature on it?

I shoot all the stuff for Speedhunters in South Africa, so I've got direct contact with the UK guys.
