While I’m also probably quite high on U-Pol fumes here’s a sneaky peak midway through an unusual door build of removing the speakers instead of adding them ImageImageImage

I'm watching this closely lol... So not in doors... Are they heading to the footwell or the pillars? Or both?

My current plan is to get the tweeters, midrange, and midbass, all above dash level which is going to take a crazy amount of work but I need to get past the deadening and soundproofing stages before I can get into positioning & listening tests.

Well it’s been a busy few weeks on the van! Full Touran front end swap including engine, gearbox, steering, abs, airbag system, Webasto pre heater, all ancillaries, full Touran wiring loom, the lot!ImageImage
I’ve had it running & other than the predicted fault code overload from the missing headlights etc it’s sweeeet!

Image

Image

I had to rest the bumpers in place because why not Image although I’ve now decided to debadge the front end and I’m going to try a headlight custom build Image

Image

Rear lights are in as is the smooooooth grab handle and RS3 bumper 8) Image

Thanks guys

Skirts if I can find ones I like but tbh I’ve not looked that hard yet. I’ve got a whole load of exterior mods to do yet so I’ll figure something out

Some tasty mods so far. I love the cup holder and door handle lights. It’s gonna be a good one to watch!

Going back to your seats they look like Corsa VXR “Wingbacks” been toying with the idea of getting a set myself, but not know if I like the look of metal adapter brackets.
Got any photos of how you’ve mounted them?

They are vxr recaros but I’ve not mounted them yet. I balanced them roughly in place and they’ll need a lot of frame work to make them fit. I’m soon to start the deadening and soundproofing on mine so they won’t be fitted for a while yet Image

If I can pull this one off it’s definitely going into my ‘hmmm I wonder’ hall of fame Image

Before and after of under the bonnet…
A very abused and worn out 2008 1.9
Image

And the 2012 bluemotion running lovely with newly discovered modifications Image

Image

Yes I know the battery is out and the arch liners are missing but the priority was to get it running cleanly and happily before changing anything from the original Touran.
The front rad pack is coming off for the alternator and charging cables upgrade, the arch liners are staying off until I’ve decided on my front speakers and possibly some deadening, the headlights will be in 500 pieces by the weekend and the bumper is only balancing in place anyway as are the wings etc because it’s all coming off for paint work so seems pointless fixing it all.

To say it’s been a bitch is an understatement as so many things we didn’t realise such as the Touran uses canbus & the Caddy doesn’t, the Touran clutch pedal needs relocating or it won’t start, extra fuel lines etc for the pre heater thingie, and not to mention re-pinning almost the entire wiring loom Image and the fun part hasn’t even begun yet! So, now all the accessories have been fitted & checked working and the engine, aux heater, gearbox, brakes, windows, etc etc all running and behaving as they should, I spent a day dissecting the entire loom and completely removing the unnecessary looms such as rear doors etc to save a whole world of confusion my future self will thank me for, modifying the Touran loom to work with the van, and adding in all the additional custom wiring I need for the van itself. Checked everything over again, played with VCDS for the first time ever, and all is well

Whoever designed the Caddy is the full meat end of a VERY large bell! Did he quit halfway through and an understudy took the helm? I can’t cope with the misaligned madness of it all so I’m reigning a war of symmetry and comforting alignment ImageImage

The left is right….
Image

And now the right is right too ImageImageImage
Image

Everything is oem & no weird shenanigans with aftermarket parts, just a good old fashioned technical fight between a door module and my multi meter ImageImage
