GeeDub SQ daily driver

So I went out for dog food and came home with a caddy! Not the exact van I was hunting for but it was crazy cheap and the bodywork is in excellent condition.

It’s life will be spent as a daily commute driver, a competition SQ car, and hauling my mountain bike around, with the occasional dog trip thrown in for good measure Image

Phase one is essentially to re-shell a touran into the caddy body…..all mechanicals, electrical, and front end facelift, plus the usual mods of custom bumpers & mirrors etc.
Phase two is soundproofing and deadening which I’m going slightly overboard with and using some very unconventional methods.
Phase three is the audio system & again, more lovely overboard fun Image

Here’s day one….

Day 2 was a bit of a strip fest & I may have possibly gotten a tad carried away Image

They're Recaro's but no idea from what car. They don't actually fit & are sitting on brackets at the mo because the seat rails are much narrower than the caddy so I'm trying to get the correct seating position sorted before the welder gets in there to make the plates up.

Uncertain on the exact set up but Genesis V1 amps, helix dsp,3 way active front end with 2x 18’s. The amps I’ve had since I was competing 20 years ago & they’re still perfect although they’re currently being stripped by my friend who originally made them for a trip to the anodising man.
I’m testing exact locations at the mo but so far tweeters are going into the A Pillar window void, mids on the dash which I’m probably going to completely rebuild, and the mid bass in the kick wells, I’m still testing speakers as I’ll be cutting vents in the arches so only certain ones will work. The subs are being custom built & will be in the back floor where the spare wheel currently lives but it’s all being cut out and steel boxed etc

That will sound real nice. Friend of mine has a few of the Genesis amps from competing years ago, all had some upgrades by Gordon back in the day. Don't think the "new" ones sound as good.

Yea Gordon is god! The only similarity in the new ones is the body, everything else is different. A testament to his amps is mine are 20 to 22 years old (I have 8), they had a brief spell in amplifier prison (wife induced storage) for 5 years, we put them on Gordons test bench and the output watts & tests etc were identical to the day I bought them!

Woohoo 2012 Touran SE donor car bought and sorted! I wanted a 2.0 tdi & this is a 1.6tdi but the situation was such that price sometimes overrides certain self imposed criteria and it was definitely a snooze you loose moment Image A random yet underwhelming fact is I’ve always disliked blue….perhaps there’s a sublinimimal message in there somewhere Image

I'll swap you dash centres lol, I've the older shape one that fits your caddy cable operated and you likely have the newer all electric one that fits mine... my wife's touran expired and became the reason I have a caddy now but hers was an 08 and my maxi is a 12

So you need the cable caddy one or the touran? I’m using everything from the touran but if you need the caddy one you can have it
