Got a Composition Media 5K7 035 200 K; the one without built in navigation. I tend to think it's fairly pointless these days when you can use the navigation on your phone.

Also got a 3rd party reverse camera off Amazon (pic mid-install, obviously):

I've posted about this elsewhere on the forum, but I made an adapter so I could fit the CarPlay/AA socket in place of the 3.5mm jack socket in the Touran centre console storage box:

Bit of sanding and painting on the print to make it look less like a 3D print :D :

I got a multi function steering wheel out of a T6 off of eBay. Unfortunately the leather wasn't in the best condition, so I got one of these repair kits from amazon.

I was surprised how well it came out! Kit was pretty easy to use too, though the instructions are ludicrously optimistic in how long it takes. With all the drying and sanding back and re-coating etc. it took several days.

To get the cruise control working in my PQ van I needed to get Spacewalker's module. It's a pretty fiddly soldering job, but all doable.

Got it all installed and working except for the horn, which would peep whenever I turned the CC on or off. This was hilarious for about 30 seconds. Bit of investigation and the wiring needed some adjustment.

Starts like this:

This purple thingy needs to come out:

Remove the grey wire from the yellow plug:

Remove the grey and blue wire from the black plug (and discard the grey wire completely):

Plug the blue wire in place of the grey wire in the yellow plug:

Should look like this:

Et voila, working horn.

Couldn't tell you exactly as I got it from a breaker site unseen, but the part number is 7E0 419 091 M.

Great work there on the wheel. As for composition Media vs Discover Media you're probably right but I tend to appreciate the nav on mine as a backup and it shows direction on the cluster which is a nice touch

Looking good, nice work!

I’ve also been having the bike dilemma since getting my Caddy late last year. Settled on a setup from Blok, comprising a rail that fits across the rear threshold tie-down points and fork mounts.

Works great with MTBs, but drop bar road/gravel bikes are a challenge as the handlebars/levers extend beyond the front axle… might need to make my own ultra-offset plates to solve that Image

Yep, that's an option I've come across before, but not for me I think. The main reason I went with a maxi was so I could fit a couple of bikes in the back without taking the wheels off, because I'm lazy 😁. My current thinking is to weld up some kind of jig to hold the rear wheel(s), screwed to the floor near the bulkhead. Like one of the things you park your bike in outside the café at Glentress if you've ever been (I'm sure they're doubtless at other places too). There is some off the shelf plywood contraption that does the same thing, can't remember what it's called at the moment, but it seemed a bit bulky and overbuilt.

Your solution looks good though, very neat 👍

I know what you mean, would be good to see what you come up with!

I’ve seen something like that ‘off the shelf’ too, but I also thought it looked a bit overkill (and expensive!).

My headunit and camera install went off without a hitch in the main, but there was one little niggle that bothered me, that being that when reversing the PDC overlay on the camera was disabled, and couldn't be enabled. I did a bit of googling and found anecdotal evidence that this was because the software level of the PDC module (2K0 919 475/PARKHILFE 4K H03 0004) was too old to communicate correctly with the headunit. So I took a gamble and bought a replacement PDC module, and whatdyaknow, now it works:

Image

It's a 7E0 919 475 T, from a T6 I believe, PARKHILFE 4K H03 0212. Only downside is that now my instrument cluster is complaining 12671232 - Function Restricted due to Missing Message(s), I can only assume that the parking module's software is so much newer to the extent it is sending some message(s) that the instrument cluster doesn't understand. It doesn't clear and I don't see any obvious coding options in the cluster that would make it go away, but any ideas are welcome. It's not really a big deal anyway as it doesn't seem to affect anything other than making my autoscan untidy. Perhaps what I need is a Parkhilfe 4K H03, but with a software level somewhere greater than 0004, but less than 0212 . I'll keep an eye out and if I can get such a module for cheap I might experiment further.

Small update on the above. I picked up another parking module, a 5N0 919 475 D (PARKHILFE 4K H03 0045) out of a Touran or a Tiguan. With this one I get the sensors overlay as before, but my instrument cluster isn't complaining about missing messages any more. Win.
