a silver long'un :) (updated 24/12/11)

Post by turbo si »

wel folks, figured it was about time i put some pics of my caddy up

been re-building her for a few months now after what turned out to be quite a heavy front end impact

basic mods are touran front bumper, full colourcode, mk5 golf seats, couple other little bits and pieces but nothing major tbh:

day i got it:
Image

front chassis legs replaced and front test fitted:
Image

freshly painted in the both waiting for flatting and polish:
Image

Image

touran front bumper:
Image

still needing a little fiddling with the panel gaps but nearly there now:

i will be finishing it off tonight so i will try to get some more pics once shes all washed and clean :D

cheers, simon

I must admit that you've done a great job on that Caddy, the maxi fits perfect in Reflex silver :)

bit more of a update:

better pics of when i first got it home:

anyhow enough of the old more the new, after i carpeted the bulkhead:
Image

i had alot of carpet left over so decided to make a start on the back end:
Image
Image
Image

fitted a little power socket while i was in there and the covers were off:
Image
Image

after i ran out of materiel (done all the original panels and a couple plastics) i decided to sort the floor:
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

only thing that annoys me is because i did the floor in 2 panels so it can be remved for cleaning the pattern on the rear section runs off slightly so i think i will end up re-doing it lol

after that was sorted i decided i really wasn't happy with the look of the towbar, as i have no choice in having it i wanted it to look the best it possibly can so decided to pull it closer to the bumper:
Image

removed the mounts, prepped them to be welded up
Image

all welded, shortened and re-drilled in a better place aswell as a new coat of paint:
Image

much better:
Image

thats all for now, i know there nothing major but personally i think attention to detail is the most important thing.

cheers, simon :)

Nice van! Silver looks great with a debadged grill. How did you make your caddy lettering black on the back? I have tried spraying the letters but the paint just peels off!

There not black fella inface i actually removed them all and binned them, however if you want them black then the best way would be to scotch brite them up with grey scotch then prime them with some chemical etch (not the shit from halfords) it should have no colour and look like metalic water-you canget this in aerosols from a proper paint shop supplies, once thats done then just spray the black on as normal :)
